Michela Alessandrini, PhD (1987, Tivoli, IT) is a curator and writer based in Paris and Milan, whose research revolves around exhibition theory and display at the crossroads of curating, contemporary art history and writing practices. Since 2020, she has been serving as Curator at Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain with a focus on International Partnerships and Projects. Prior to this, she was Consultant for Research, Editorial and Collection at Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, Qatar. In 2020, she earned a PhD at Université Bordeaux Montaigne with a thesis about personal and institutional curatorial archives. Previously, she completed a Master’s degree in contemporary art history at Sapienza University in Rome and at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. She participated to Session 22 of the International Curatorial Program École du Magasin in Grenoble, in 2012-2013; and has been guest researcher at MACBA, Barcelona; l’Appartement 22, Rabat; and Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven. She has been curator-in-residence in Switzerland, France, Belgium, and Hungary.
